'86 Turbo Engine Swap

Postby sonofjabba » Sun Aug 08, 2010 1:14 pm

The Engine in my 1986 LeBaron GTS Turbo is pushing oil out of everywhere. No it's not the turbo it is the engine. I picked up a Brand NEW Long Block (NON-TURBO)Uber Cheap. Only differences I'm seeing & Parts Number wise is the Non Turbo needs a return oil port drilled and one extra hole drilled and tapped for the spineshaft carrier. I have experience machining blocks drilling and tapping holes is like a cakewalk.

I plan on assembling most of the long block within the next week or so. If I run into any unexpected issues I'll post back.

Any Advice is welcome to anyone that has done this type of swap before.

ill tell ya that the non turbo engine will not work with a turbo, as the pistions are not shopined and the rods would just blow up under the turbos preasure. you can put a turbo on it but it can only run up to 3 LBs boost without destorying the motor
