Need some advice

Postby Baron » Mon Nov 08, 2010 7:00 pm

Would anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing the problem listed here? I realize its not much information to go on, but I am interested in looking at the car, and possibly buying it, but want to make sure I don't get into having to fix something I can't afford.

Thanks for any info/help you may be able to offer.

I sounds like a Carborator rebuild. That is the weak area of the 2.6. It shouldn't cost you more than the puchase price of the car. If the boby and interior are in good shape that would make the car a good deal. The coupes are rare these days and should be preserved. Have you seen what it looks like?

Tough to diagnose unheard and unseen. It's not indicated what the engine is doing (stalling, high idle, rough idle, no power, etc.) but if the overall condition is good, anything with four wheels that rolls is worth 500.00. I have the 2.2L and my tech manual has no entry in the index for "boby". It may be specific to the 2.6

Somebody in the CKCC better buy this car as in the next year or two there will be no more 84 LeBaron Coupes for sale, period. They are disappearing faster and much worse than the 1980s Citation.
