Reliant paint color?

does anyone know the actual name of the dark grey paint used on Reliants? I'm trying to match it but there are like six different colors that are very similiar to its dark kind of gunmetal grey... I dont know if that is possible to determine or if they only used one shade of it on Reliants but if someone could help that would be great

I think the paint color is also embedded as a code in the Body plate tag but I don't have my 84 parts book handy.

yes, you can find nearly every year brochure for both the Aries and Reliant on eBay.

i got an 86 Aries brochure awhile back. also picked up an 87 Ram 50 dealer brochure and even a 72 Suburban brochure on eBay (since I own one of each of those as well too). Heck, I have towing guide for 1972 Chevy cars and trucks, a 72 Chevy based RV dealer brochure and just got a 1986 Dodge towing guide that features a k woody wagon on the cover pulling a small pop-up!

as for my 86 Aries LE wagon........i have a copy of the original order print for my car (even though my parents bought it 2-1/2 years old). so i have known for a LONG time that the color is called "light cream" w/ body side moldings, bumper protectors, roof rack, rear wiper, wood applique delete, etc. oh...been called Ginger since then too ('cause of the color).

Best way to confirm paint color is by looking on the fender tag and matching the paint code to a list of colors. Sometimes the color options changed in the middle of a run and sometimes colors changed names. You can check out http://www.paintscratch.com to see the codes and the color they correspond to.

Hi,

From my 1986 Reliant sales brochure the color you're describing is called "Gunmetal Blue Pearl Coat". My 86 shop manual shows this color as paint code CC6 which you should find on the "fender tag" which is actually on the radiator cross brace on K cars. The Ditzler number given is 3631. Any paint supplier should be able to provide you with a matching paint with this infromation. These cars were originally finished in acrylic enamel which is somewhat obsolete today but i understand is still available.

Whoops, sorry I saw 86 and thought we were talking about an 86 Reliant. For an 84 the color is "Charcoal Pearl Coat", Paint Code CA6. Again you should find this code on the fender tag to be sure of the original color. The Ditzler code is 3632.
