84 new yorker , fault code 45

Postby bret signorelli » Wed May 16, 2012 5:06 am

I've been trying to diagnose my fault code 45. the symptom is engine bogs down , this only occurs when I floor the gas pedal , so it's not an urgent issue , but I would like to fix it myself if possible.Does anybody know where I can find the map sensor? Also , as I was inspecting yhe hose from wastegate to turbo , I noticed a seperate opening coming off like a splitter but with an open end (looks like where a vacuum hose should be attached) is this normal? Sorry I don't know a better way to explain it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi Bret, can you send us some pictures of what you are looking at?

Turbo boost limited exceeded. Wow.

Bret, I know of a mechanic in Lompoc. He may be willing to help. I will give you his contact as a back-up.

In 85 the Map sensor is mounted to ECU. See link below.

See the link that 89aries supplied for potential failure sources.

Not sure about the opening - maybe you are just looking at a bleed port. Do you have the vacuum diagram for you car to trace the vacuum connections (its usually under hood). If not go to this website.

Hi thanks, yeah I have the vacuum diagram which shows the vacuum line to the map sensor going through the firewall into the cab. Also it doesn't show a bleed port on the vacuum line from the wastegate to the turbo. I think I'm going to see if I can look at what the part is supposed to look like at a parts store ( I couldn't find any pictures in the chilton or the web) If you can contact that mechanic in Lompoc and see if he would talk to me that would be appreciated. Thanks .p.s. I will try to post some pictures of what I'm talking about soon.
