mystery wires for "poor Kay"

Postby ARTTY » Thu Mar 14, 2013 9:57 pm

Hello, everyone! New member from San Diego, ARTTY, here. Looking under "Kay's" hood, found some broken wires. Both on the drivers side around the transaxle. One is a double wire set (pale yellow & black) that plugs into a snap together connector and disappears behind the trans. comes from a bundle of wires on the driver's side of engine. The other is a single grey wire that looks like a ground. It's secured to a point on top of the trans, and is unfortunately only two inches long at this point. Any ideas what these wires are for and where does the grey one go? I can't find hide nor hair of the other end of the grey one. Thanx, and Mopar to ya!

need to tell us what year car you have, model. 86-87 used the separate LM/PM setup whereas 88/89 had the SMEC. also, 1987 introduced the lockup torque converter and your car may or may not have it depending on engine size, body style, etc.

If you plan to keep the car, I suggest that you buy a set of dealer factory service manuals. The full set of manuals includes wiring diagrams.

Here is a link to some for sale. You can generally get a set cheaper - if you keep looking for awhile.

For some reason I thought you had an 86. The manual links are for 1986 FWD cars. (Similar but not exactly the same.) You can find a similar set for 1987 FWD Mopar cars on Ebay. The factory set is much better than Chiltons.

Thanks, K-CAR_WAGON. I found out what the wires were for . They are for the speed sensor, and the heated oxygen sensor. I reconnected the Broken wire for the oxy. sensor, But have to find a new plug-together connector for the speed sensor, because some yahoo in the car's past cut one of the two wires off flush at the plug, and the other is cut (looks more like nibbled) in several places along it's length. Is the speed sensor all that important, anyway? ARTTY
