I need help with a part

Hey everyone i am trying to figure out what this part is

its off of an 84 plymouth reliant, it is attached to the carb

That particular part is the vacuum control solenoid for the vacuum secondary diaphragm. This solenoid is in the vacuum apply circuit and bleeds off vacuum to the secondary "pot" during engine warmup and low air flow/engine speed conditions.
It prevents the vacuum secondary from opening until a number of conditions have been met ...the engine has reached a temperature of above 140deg F , the engine speed must also be above 1800 rpm, intake manifold vacuum must be above 8 inches of mercury and at least 30 seconds has elapsed since engine start . This is done to prevent engine damage.
