Then and now

Postby 88 aries » Thu Dec 01, 2011 6:55 am

I guess you could call me a true to the heart K-car fan....The first picture was taken in 1996, in the driveway of my house, which I still live in, sitting outside in the drive way was our 1986 Plymouth Reliant SE with only 190,000 at the time ( RIP 2005 still miss it) and then in the garage was a Pile of junk, 1989 Aries LE 2.2, used as a mail car, burned a quart of oil every 500 miles...Total pile of junk, which is why I still do not like the 1989 Model year..Image

and here I am today with my whole Fleet at a mopar show, 1986 Plymouth Reliant, 1988 Dodge Aries LE 1981 Plymouth Reliant Custom

Who do you get to drive the other cars to the show. You'll just have to have have enough kids to drive all these cars. You know there will be more in the collection down the line. It must be a car show party out there.
A very impressive lot!

may parents drive them to this show, dad and I usually have a little duel with the 86 and 88 going down the freeway. I can say that the 2.2 can out pull the 2.5..This is the only show that they see the freeway other than its just back roads and short trips..

ok....you are on drugs....or the 2.5 needs work.

my 86 K wagon AND my 91 dynasty 2.5 could both smoke my parents 88 4dr k with 2.2....around town and on the highway. only way a 2.2 would be faster is if it was backed by a 5spd and the 2.5 had an auto.

i used to race my buddy with his 96 neon expresso (dohc, 5spd) with my dynasty. he had me beat by 50hp and 500 lbs lighter and i could still chase him around town. if the car had had a stick shift (yes, that would be funny on a dynasty) he wouldn't have been able to get away on the on-ramps (automatics suck).

you must also note that my 86 2.2 has the timing advanced to 14 degrees.. the 2.5 is at the stock 12. the 2.5 will blow my 2.2 of the line, but when it comes to higher end RPM my 2.5 looses it. My 2.2 will still pull.
