Hello

Just joined the K-Car Club. I was lucky enough to inherit a 1985 Plymouth Caravelle with only 44k miles. At the moment I'm looking for a vapor canister.

I know that its a 2.2L EFI engine, and that I need a 3 port canister. I'll try to figure out what kind of emissions system it has

Well, I've called Arizona parts and unfortunately they could not give me any real information on the part. He did say I could look up the casting 4227045,006. But, I have no idea how to do so. Since I am unsure at the moment, I will probably just order the part and hope for the best. Unless anyone here knows how to look up a casting.

Ok, so today I finally had a chance to look at the car. Now on Arizona parts the casting number they have for this part is 4227045,006. I jacked up my '85 and got underneath for a better view, and saw a 2 stickers on the canister that read 4227 006. These stickers were flush against each other as to make 1 number. And since the man over the phone at Arizona parts was so unhelpful when I called, I am once again at a loss.

Ah.. Very helpful. Hopefully I simply overlooked a port. I think I'm going to order the part off of Arizona parts and try my luck. I should have like 30 days to return it if it doesn't go well. I also noticed while looking at it yesterday I originally said 66k miles. Its actually 44k. I noticed a crack in the dash, missing hood ornament, missing trunk lock cover, the carpet and seats are worn, and of course the paint. I'm gonna try and take some pics of the car.

Alrighty, well I got to messing with the Caravelle again today. I've been trying to figure out why I couldn't find a 3 port evap canister. So upon closer inspection I found a 4th port that is not connected to anything. I wish I was more experienced with cars. I also found out my diagram was too dirty to see the 4th port on the image. Which reminds me my engine compartment is very dusty/dirty. Is there a good way to clean it without dismantling?
