'86 Reliant

I have a 1986 Reliant. 2.5 TBI. I threw timing about 4 months ago. I replaced the timing belt and got everything running right. However, as of late, if I get on the gas, the car chugs for a second or two, then takes off. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the timing, and if so, is there any way I can advance or retard the timing without taking half the car apart to redo the belt?

I checked for codes, and it only threw code 55, so It's fine in that perspective. Also, it only does it when I'm stopped, such as at a stop light, and only does it when I do a hard launch. Anything over, say, half throttle will make it chug, and it's for no more than 3 seconds.

Could it possibly be a clogged fuel injector? I've been trying to play with the car some, to see what it does in different scenarios. If I get it to chug, then stop and turn the car off, There's a strong odor of gasoline outside of the car.
