If you’re talking about those clamp on replacement battery terminals that clamp the bare cable under a metal strap held on by two bolts, they often turn into a broken, corroded mess. They are at best only a quick fix that doesn’t hold up.
One good way to make them much more reliable is to use a ring terminal on the cable end and bolt the ring terminal under one of the cable strap bolts. A good automotive electrical shop should be able to do this for you and I would do this to both battery cables if they have replacement terminals on them. For best connection the ring terminal should be crimped onto the cable with a high pressure crimping tool or both crimped and soldered. You can find the ring terminals in those hardware store tray assortments for something like #6 wire and a 5/16 or 3/8 bolt. If you have access to a really big soldering iron you can put them on at home, maybe Butch could give you a hand, it’s a quick job if you have the tools.
