Oil blowby into throttle body.

Postby 89ARIES » Fri Oct 28, 2011 11:44 pm

This has me upset and concerned. With good compression, power, no smoke, why is oil vaporizing into the throttle body, getting burned with the gasoline,
and when you stop the car and take ofF the throttle body, your hand is suddenly covered in oil. How could this have happened? I didn't drive over 90 everyday. Justin
says his family's Reliant went 375,000 and didn't blow or burn any oil on the 2.2? Now my car isn't going to make it another 50,000 miles, or is it?

The reason why our lil Reliant went 375,000 is because it was in good mechanic hands and always ran like new. Theres an easy way to solve this problem with the oil, STOP DRIVING IT....

Not sure. The PCV was just replaced recently. The oil was basically lying at the bottom of the throttle body under the internal throttle body gasket. I still get good gas mileage, but now I am really worried.

I kind of doubt that burning a little oil get sucked in the throttle body along with the fuel is the major source of your problems. I've seen alot of cars with serious oil burning issues that were still able to idle/run properly. But maybe a very dirty throttle body assembly - from lack of regular mainentence and/or a bad injector is part of your problems.
