putting dobble mufler uotputs

it is really hard to find someone to that it is willing to insttal a double muffler in my 86 dodge 6000 convertible. the tell me that it is because of the location of the gas tank. what do you recumbent please. really important, for right now i have a dummy right side muffler. my car looks great and sound good but i want it to be even bette.
