89 Lebaron convertable Throtle Body Tempature Sensor?

Postby Dkranz » Wed Oct 09, 2013 10:27 am

Good Morning,
I have an 89 Lebaron with a 2.5 non turbo motor. I have an error code 22 + 23 Have replaced the coolant temperature sensor. But I can not seem to locate a Throttle Body Temperature Sensor. The car stalls and runs badly.
I just took this car on a trip from NY to Vegas, Vegas to CA and back to Vegas with no issues at all. Help?
Thanks
Doug

I had to take this to a mechanic, shame it took 3 or 4 months to get approved to post.
It was the fuel injector.

I am sorry DKranz. We are trying. Your post may have gotten lost as I have to manually approve everything. Hope you'll stick around. 8-)

it depends, on if I keep the Lebaron or not. I like the car, but it needs a fuel pump next, the top is new, the interior is in great shape. But not the most practical car in the world for us to own. To drive it, I have to move another car and pull it from the back yard. For now, I am going to keep it..

Hi,

Any 25 year-old car is going to present challenges at times. The problem today is unless you can find a mechanic that remembers these cars when new, it's getting harder to keep them running. The solution to that is to learn about you car. A great place to start is to have a Factory Service Manual (FSM). You can frequently find them on Ebay in both printed and CD form.

The good news is parts are relatively inexpensive compared to newer cars and labor charges can be somewhat lower. Rock Auto at rockauto.com has many parts for these cars at decent prices.

No 25 year-old car is going to be without its challenges at times. We keep them to preserve a bit of automotive and Chrysler Corporation history, not as the most practical day to day transportation.

And all 1980s cars are between 25 and 34 years old now. It is time we stopped bashing them, but give them some love, as the very few left still
make excellent classic car transportation. I love my 89 Aries with 231,000 miles. 8-)
