I'm planning to swap head gaskets on my 87 Aries with almost 35,000 miles on it. I over heated my 2.2L last fall and want to replace the head gasket. I read a few posts online about using a MOPAR Performance head gasket instead of a FELPRO or other good name brand gasket.
I did see the 11mm head bolts are torque-to-yield so they cant be reused after removing them.
I read that you should try to find a MOPAR # P4452005 - non-crossdrilled head and block or you can use a # P4452006 - crossdrilled head and block
FELPRO supposedly made a good gasket but you need to find a Print-O-Seal gasket instead of a Permatorque. Hmmmm...lots of strong opinions from what I have read. However most these were generally on cars that were using turbos I think. My cars just a daily driver.
Has anyone here had experience replacing a 2.2l head gasket at home?
