Won't Idle

My 88 5 speed Aries won't idle.In fact when I take it out of gear and start to slow down for a stop sign/light it dies.So I either have to roll it off or crank it up again.I have done nothing under the hood since I bought it a month ago. Just wondering if a general tune up would solve this or if it would be another part I need to replace.
