1980s K-cars much more reliable than late 90s Chryslers.

I think Chrysler's reliability took a dive after the early 90s. One only needs to see the massive amount of recalls and major premature tranny failures. Engine sludge was a major problem for the cloud cars. I also now notice mid to late 90s Chryslers have become a rare sight on the road here in So.Cal. I see more 80s Fifth Avenues than any type of 90s Chrysler. I know because the 90s really stand out and our very stylish as elongated soap dishes, such as Dodge Stratus. What are your opinions? 8)

I believe Chrysler reliability peaked with the end of the Dodge Spirit in 1995, and then took a crash.

here are the cars that put chrysler in the crapper

1993-1997 intrepids ( only because of transmission issues and 3.5) 3.3 was ok

1998-2004 intrepids 2.7 liter V6 (they deserve to die since they are a crappy engine)

4 speed automatic's

Dodge stratus
Plymouth breeze
chrysler cirius

eliminating plymouth in 2000

and dynastys and newyorkers with 3.0 power all except 1988 that offered only a 3 speed

Im sure there is a lot more im missing

My dad drives a 90's Chrysler and I have to say its very very reliable, its a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport, 3.8L V6, 4-speed 41TE automatic, 300,000km, only wear items have been replaced (Sway bar links, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc.). I'll agree the 2.7 wasn't very good but it was better than the 3100 and 3400 V6's GM was producing at the time. Dodge Stratus, Plymouth Breeze, Chrysler Cirrus are all pretty good car's I see more of them driving around town than any 80's Chryslers, I will agree that the Spirit/Acclaim was the peak of Chrysler reliability as the 1994 Acclaim my mom owned with the 2.5 was very good as well as the Spirit I owned and gave to my grandma.
I think that the 90's wasn't a good time for most automakers and so I think Chrysler did very good with what they had.

05 Crossfire Roadster 41,000
06 Dodge Ram Megacab 33,000
08 Chrysler 300C 34,000
And no you don't want to race my wife's 300C it has 345 hp and 390 torque. We have the low HP 300 some have 425hp

Sorry Justin but over the last 2 weeks of work me and my coworkers have come to the conclusion that the GM 2.8L V6 was good, the 3.1L V6 was OK, the 3100 V6 was garbage, the 3400 V6 should have never been made, and the new 3.5L and 3.9L V6's are back to the goodness that the 2.8L possessed. But if I'm wanting a new North American V6 I'll go see Ford or Dodge/Chrysler first.

I miss the 3800's. they were an awesome engine. That's what we have in our 99 chevy impala cop car. We use it every day. It has 300,000+ miles on it, and never had the transmission, or engine replaced. It is a trooper.
