I didn't mention the 3800 because I think the average car guy recognizes it as GM's best 80's-90's-00's V6.

Best car I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot) was a 2000 Chrysler Neon 5spd (they where sold as Chryslers in Canada not Dodge for some reason. One of the worst was a 1990 Dodge Shadow so you can never predict.

Unfortunately, I have to agree about the Intrepids. I owned one of each of those models- a '92 and an '02- and they were great cars overall- great handling for the size and class of car they are, comfortable even in the most basic model, and a real sports car if you get the handling package and engine to go with it. I loved the ones I had for those reasons, but yeah, one had the 3.5 and the other the 2.7, and both blew head gaskets about or before 100,000 miles.

On the other side of the coin, after I got the news at the dealer about the head gasket on my second Intrepid, I mentioned to the girl behind the counter that I loved Chrysler, and would probably get another, but if it blew a gasket like the previous two, I would have to consider going with Ford, or something in the future. She answered back that before she came there she worked at a Ford dealer, and they had the same problems, as did many other brands. Evidently, with these new aluminum engines, if they overheat, that's pretty much the end of them, whether a blown head gasket, warped heads or damaged cylinder walls. I did get another Chrysler- a Chrysler 300, and I still love my Chryslers- good power, good handling, good comfort, but this time I got the lifetime guarantee, so if it blows a gasket, they'll be paying for it.

I hate that engine with a passion! had one in an '88 Olds it was as if GM intentionaly made that engine imposable to work on...even oil changes due to what has to be the stupidest oil filter location of all time! that car was constanly leaving me stranded (and not just because of its remarkably inacurate fuel gauge) even though the engine only had a few thousand miles on it I always keep my tools with me but I was almost never able to get it running...I'll take my Dodge's 2.5 over a 3800 anyday even if its not nearly as powerfull or quiet. (of course I'd take my 'Fifth's 318 over any engine)
