Should I buy this 1984 Dodge 600 ES convertible

Postby cluff13 » Fri Apr 02, 2010 6:38 pm

I am hoping to get some good advice. I have an opportunity to purchase a 1984 Dodge ES Turbo convertible.
Asking price is $1450.00. The car has 198,000 miles. Head has been rebuilt. It runs and stops. The electrical all seems to work, including the top. Drivers side windshield wiper does not work. Top needs to be reaplaced. There is some rust around the wheel wells and in the trunk. needs new tires. It is drivable, but needs some work. What is this truely worth?
thanks,
Steve

In Top shape about 4500 dollars. so yes with a little work and cleaning you would have a Rare K-car convertable, 600's are more rarer than a Lebaron covertable

Bottom line is that you should buy it if you like it and are willing to put in lots of time and $$$; don't buy with thoughts of it being an "investment".

If it were me, I would keep looking for one in better shape, they are out there and you will not have all the work this one needs and all the miles. Check Craigslist and ebay, there are all sorts of K convertibles for sale at any given time. I bought both of mine from Craigslist.

If you want to get a car that will return your investment, one with 200K miles with a bad top (floor rust???)and all sorts of other rust repairs may not be the best one. But again, if you really like it, you could always make a lower offer.

Possibly a lot of hidden rust that you can't see as well as the rust you do.

Unless of course you can do all the rust repair and body repair yourself confidently.

Without seeing it, I would say "pass"......unless you really like the car!!
