This may seem incredibly dumb but I cannot find a replacement oil filter to fit my 1983 Dodge 400 convertible's 2.6L Mitsubishi engine. After removing the Fram PH3562 filter I installed the new filter, Fram CPH 3950. Upon starting the engine the rubber gasket blew out ! Oil all over the floor! Comparing the mating surfaces the new 3950 filter is 3/8 of an inch larger than the old 3562 and thus does not seal properly. The 3950 is the correct filter according to the parts guys. The Purolator 10193 oil filter is too big as well!
So I am appealing to K car owners with the 2.6 engine, what oil filter are you using? The original filter is an obsolete part no longer produced.
Help!

Hello

Go and try a local Mistubishi dealership and ask them for a oil filter for your 2.6L, they used them in thier own cars and more than likely can and more than willing to help you out.
