It's because of the age of when it was last used in any type of vehicle...If you stop and really look...2.6 Mitsubishi's had about a 6-7 year span...and most are gone now...2.2 and 2.5 was all the way up until 95 when Chrysler switched over to the 2.4 which is what PT Cruisers and the Mini Vans have..The 2.6 was a strong engine but had issues with cracking in between number 3 valve and timing guides wearing out...I have been there done this with a 84 Lebaron I owned many moons ago...But glad I could help...Let me know if I can help in anyway...By the way....I just bought a 85 Lebaron convertible with a 2.2 and a 85 Dodge 600 convertible which are sister cars from the St. Louis plant..I couldn't believe they were from the same line...lol...Take care...
