I learned something about this car today...you all know how our k-cars have the power loss light/Check engine light, well apparently in 1997 you could still do the key dance on neons blew my mind after 3 turns of the key sure enough a healthy code 55 flashed. Anyways this is my grandmothers 97 Dodge neon purchased at Jim olson ford, at the time they were having a used car sale all three dealerships were. Her old 89 Ford escort (POS) was getting far to rusty and basically she wanted a new car, so while browsing a buick century, mercury cougar, dodge dynasty. None of them were up to par with what she wanted, so the salesmen directed us towards two dodge neons, one was a purple 99 for 10,000 and then there was her 97 for 8,000, what attracted me was the funky colors on the seats. not to mention it was a nice car ( and still is with a little more age) we test drove it, she loved it. so the deal was sealed and we brought it home that day, then later on about a year later the headgasket went, it was fixed under warrenty at 70,000 ish miles?. Other than the headgasket, it has provided many trouble free miles. And last year it survived hitting a wall after running over my grandma (story for another time) It still has its original floor mats, and I added a factory CD changer out of another neon. Needless to say I am a K-car and Neon lover
